Review

Alto Vino exudes an unmistakable sense of premium elegance, instantly transporting you to the heart of Italy. The restaurant’s ambience and the presence of Chef Marouane Rahali make you feel like you’ve stepped into Italy itself. The culinary journey here is a harmonious blend of rustic homestyle cooking and exquisite culinary artistry, all presented on your plate with finesse. Unlike many places that incorporate Indian flavours to cater to local palates, Alto Vino stays true to its Italian roots, meticulously crafting flavours that resonate with the essence of Italian culture.

Chef Marouane Rahali’s talent shines through, particularly in his remarkable creations such as pizzas and spaghetti. During my visit to Alto Vino, I had the pleasure of savouring a delightful array of dishes and wines, each a testament to Italy’s rich gastronomic heritage:

  • Insalata di Verdure di Prato (Veg) (Lombardia): A medley of raw and marinated grilled vegetables accompanied by basil cream cheese.
  • La Cisra (Piemonte): A hearty chickpea soup with winter vegetables.
  • Pizzoccheri di Teglio (Veg) (Lombardia): Buckwheat fresh pasta served with potato and savoy cabbage.
  • Gnocchi alla Piemontese (Piemonte): Potato gnocchi toasted in lamb ragout and porcini cream.
  • Pollo Alla Valdostana (Valle d’Aosta): Marinated breaded chicken breast, melted Fontina cheese, tagliolini pasta, and black truffle.
  • Branzino alla Livornese (Liguria): Marinated sea bass, cooked with cherry tomatoes, olives, capers, and potatoes.
  • Cannelloni alla Piacentina (Veg) (Emilia Romagna): Cannelloni stuffed with spinach, ricotta, and mascarpone, served in a bed of basil tomato sauce.
  • Panna Cotta alla Fragola, Croccante al Cioccolato (Piemonte): A delightful dessert featuring strawberry panna cotta and crunchy chocolate.

Not to be missed is the Pork Pepperoni Pizza, a standout among the offerings. The curated selection of wines, including Villa Antinori Bianco, Ricossa Gavi, and Marchesi Antinori, perfectly complemented the cuisine, even for someone like me who isn’t a fervent wine enthusiast.

If I had to pick favourites, the Pork Pepperoni Pizza, Pollo Alla Valdostana, and Marchesi Antinori wine left a lasting impression. Alto Vino offers a refined dining experience that allows you to explore the flavours of Italy right here in India. It was, without a doubt, an extraordinary culinary journey. I highly recommend experiencing it for yourself.
